RENAL AMYLOIDOSIS IN RHEUMATIC DISEASES

In this study, cases with secondary amyloidosis due to rheumatic diseases were investigated retrospectively. Sixteen female, 14 male (mean age, 34±15 years) total 30 cases were included into the study. The number of cases with renal amyloidosis secondary to rheumatic diseases were as follow : 11 cases with Familial Mediterranean Fever, 7 cases with Ankylosing spondylitis, 6 cases with Rheumatoid arthritis, 2 cases with Behcet's disease, 2 cases with Systemic lupus erythematosus, 1 case with Takayasu arteritis and 1 case with Juvenile chronic arthritis. As a result, we concluded that Familial Mediterranean Fever, Ankylosing spondylitis and Rheumatoid arthritis were the first three common causes of amyloidosis associated with rheumatic diseases.
