This study performed on 27 stable Hemodialysis (HD) patients with mean age 41,9 ± 75 years to investigate effect of the low-flux dialyser on serum leptin during HD. And 27 healthy subjects with mean age 42,7 11 years were included as a control. In both groups, fasting blood samples and in patient group at the end of 4 hours HD, fasting blood samples were drown-out to investigation biochemically. When compared to the controls, body mass index (BMI), haemoglobin (Hb), Hematocrit (Hct), in serum urea, creatinine, total protein, albumin (p<0.000), total cholesterol (p<0.001) were lower, C-peptide (p<0.000), insulin (p<0.001) were higher and basal mean leptin value was higher (11.5 16 ng/ml) but not significant then the control's (6.3 2 ng/ml) in HD group.Serum Leptin was significantly decreased (7.6 12 ng/ml) at the end of 4 hours HD (p<0.000). Controversialy to previous studies, we observed that low-flux dialyser decreased the serum leptin during HD session.
