In this study at compared patients on hemodialysis (HD) and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and their relatives in terms of depression, anxiety and quality of life. Forty-five HD patients and 22 of their relatives were compared to 25 CAPD patients and their 17 relatives using the Hamilton Depression Scale, Beck Depression Scale, Hamilton Anxiety Scale and Quality of Life in Depression Rating Scale. The four groups were compared using the Multiple Range Test (Least significant difference). No significant difference was determined between the four groups in terms of depression and anxiety. Quality of life scores of HD patients were significantly lower than that of CAPD patients and their relatives.
