In this study, 296 cases about whom decision was made that they were not suitable for military service by GATA Nephrology Division between January 1996- June 1998 were evaluated in their applications for being admitted to the military services or during their military service. The cases were diagnosed as follows, chronic renal failure (40%), proteinuria (30%), nephrotic syndrome (16%) and renal transplantation (14%). It is pleasing that biopsy diagnosis exists in the 134 of 137 cases, in which biopsy diagnosis is necessary. The biopsy rate of our unit among the cases was 66%. The existence of data towards etiology in only 18% of cases with chronic renal failure is controversial. This data also displays that a social security system is very important to diagnose of renal diseases.
